Library Relabeling Project

Forgive the Mess!

The Library is working on a major project: reclassifying and relabeling our entire collection of print books!

When finished, this will make those materials much easier to find and browse.

This project will continue through at least the Fall 2025 semester.

In the meantime, if you visit the Library, you may notice many books not in their normal locations... and perhaps some random-looking piles. Don't worry, there's a method behind it all.

A guide is forthcoming that will explain the new system in greater detail and help you find everything you need.

Place a Hold to Request the Book You Need

During this transitional time, if you are looking for particular books, we recommend first finding the records through the Library catalog, then placing a hold on the item (by clicking the Hold This Item button at the top of the record page).

When you place a hold, we find the book, set it aside for you behind the circulation desk, and send you an email when it is ready to be picked up (what a service!).

  • Search for a book (or other item) in the Library catalog
  • From the search results, click the item you want, opening the unique record page for that item
  • Near the top of that page, click "Hold this item" to place the hold:
  • If prompted, sign-in to your account (with your MSM email)
  • Wait for an email notifying you that your hold is ready
  • Once your hold is processed, it will also appear in your Library account
  • Come into the Library, and pick up your book from the circulation desk!

Feel free to ask for help!

Of course, librarians and Library staff are also present during our regular summer hours to help you find anything you might need.
